Date of Death:22/2/1949 - John was killed in a mining accident in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. See coroner’s report below. Two other men in the kibble suffered fractures, cut and bruising.

Military Service: RAAF: 29/6/1940 – 16/11/1945; Rank attained - Leading Aircraftman LAC.; Served at Geraldton, Pearce, Darwin; Comments: Good type.; Minor offences for drunkenness, incorrect dress and being disrespectful to officers; Not fit for commissioned rank due to education standard; Applied for discharge 15/6/1945 – states he was miner with own mine in Marble Bar and wants to go into fishing industry – discharge not recommended. War ended in Pacific 2/9/1945.
